PLM Blank for sale - opinions please

Have come across a dealer selling a PLM blank & would like your opinions (the medal/blank also comes with a COA from Detlev Neimann).

Am still learning the art of spotting a "good" PLM, but something tells me this is not right & certainly not sure about that COA from Detlev (the dealer would not send me a copy of this - only once the medal was purchased would I get to see it - for some strange reason).

    Anyway, photos are as follows

Just in case the photos don't show here is a web link http://picasaweb.google.com/cris403/PLMBlank#

That's interesting. It certainly is trying to be a Wagner...

I bought such a piece more than 30 years ago.

I didn't think the original blanks had the lettering involved with the die stamped piece.

Can you post a crisp clear photo? Would like to see the die flaws.

You see these on ebay fairly often.

So whoever was trying to sell fake PlMs to look Wagneresque figured the next step was to sell these as if they were original blanks.

Have to feell badly for these guys. They go to all the work to create a die, the effort to enamel the blank, cut out the details and then get less than minimum wage for the fakes. The market is more sophisticated than these fakers. Sad. You just have to feel badly for them. Honestly guys, don't get angry, I feel bad for you.

                  Chris,

I believe this to be a Steinhauer & Lück blank. Probably dates after 1960 but hard to say. Could be much newer. These do pop up from time to time. The connected 'UR' in 'Pour' usually gives them away.

Even if it is not, there are key differences with the eagles, letters, F and Crown (that I will not cover here but will save for my thread on fakes) that clearly separate this blank from any Wagner. But as Brian said, it does try to look like one and S&Ls certainly fall into the 'Wagner' style.

Suffice it to say, that while this appears to be an S&L, it is not from the PlM period of 1900-45 but is still collectible I guess as an example of how S&Ls are made.

You will also see Johanniter and Goede PlM Blanks floating out there.

Comparison of finished product and this blank is offered below. Steve

Thanks for the information & photo comparison, I must be getting better at this as I more or less reached the same conclusion as you Steve.
