I really wonder about that 1939+ Bar (#1). Only a veteran or somebody else in a brownish uniform?

The bar in posts 5/11 would give me pause. Mint ribbons and aged/worn medals, along with (IMO) sloppy thread work on the reverse.

you know-now you say that, how does a chap with a combat China medal (presumably on a 2/3 year service contract) who is then recalled in 1914/15, only get a LS4 medal upon recall in 1938/9?
Maybe....but....
