    Medal of Leopold II Habsburg

    Hi!
I found this one on auction site. Seller says that this is original, but I have some doubts.
Well... I have one doubt - it looks for me like a some silverplated mass... Unfortunatly, I have no idea from what material that medals was originally made.

What do you think about it?

    Hello Borzadow,

Having very little knowledge with Imperial Austrian decorations, I am looking at your piece as Imperial German, an area with which I am more familiar.

The main thing that jumps out at me is quite a number of what appear to be small bubbles on the surfaces of both obverse and reverse sides. These bubbles could indicate a cast piece.

I would take a very close look and think twice.

    Regards,

    Wild Card

      Hello,

the medal looks original and struck in a tin alloy (several pieces are like that besides the more precious coinages in bronze, silver and gold).

The bubbles appear due to the tin-pest.

      Best wishes,

      Elmar Lang
