    unit marked Luger

I have a 1918 Luger, reissued in 1920 that is marked to JR.15.18

Is this a WW1 marking or Reichwehr?

    Thanks!

If it is marked exactly as you report it would be Infantry Regiment 15 staff, weapon number 18. It would have been issued to an NCO within the Regimental staff. I would like to see multiple photos, including the unit mark, in order to confirm marking. Unit marks on 1918 dated pistols are very rare.

I saw one for sale lately in a gun shop that had an artillery unit marking on the front strap of the frame, about where the middle finger would be when clenched . but anyone could mark one . Like they do badges post war, oh its an 18 date also i believe.

The full STAMPING is: J.R.15.18 but somebody scratched in the number eleven (not roman numeral two) before the stamping so the full marking is: 11/J.R.15.18

        Hope this helps!

It's a 1918 luger with a 1920 reissue date. When do you think the unit marking was done? WW1 or Reichswehr?

The stamping "11/J.R.15.18." is Weimar and indicates 11th company, Infantry Regiment 15, weapon 18.
