    A Small Step

Well here is my small step into the Imperial World and away from flight logs...I got this 20 years ago and beleive it is a reserve NCO's hat. Can anyone tell me more about these....I'll also post later 2 common helmets (Guard and line infantry) with unit markings that I don't know much about either. Thanks.

    Hi Dirk,

Actually, the cap has officer Kokarden. This cap was worn by Artillery, Pioneers, and Verkehrstruppen (Transportation Troops) which included all Eisenbahn (Railway),
Telegraphen (Telegraph), Flieger (Flying), and Luftschiffer (Balloon and Zeppelin). Nice cap! Tony http://www.kaisersbunker.com

Yup, definately an officer's cap, if I'm seeing right. Aside from the cockades, only officers utilize the black velvet band for technical troops. Nice cap.

        Thanks

Thanks guys. I am suprised. I remember when I bought it years ago from a collector he told me it was a summer weight hat and for an Arty NCO. I guess he didn't know either. It is unmarked inside except for the initials I.W. inside. It is velvet. Tony I'll check out your web site! Dirk
