While the more widely known Godet, Wagner, and Friedlander specimens are indeed quite nice and accepted as the 'cream of the crop', even nicer versions were made. I doubt I'll ever know who made this example. It is nicely vaulted and marked 930 under the pin. It is so finely made that I cannot see where the two frames were joined along the edges. Notice the bulbous catch and the well made pin. The core is blued rather than laquered. Of all of my EK's I only posess two that are blued...enjoy!

Hi Eric,
Have to agree with you on the fine craftsmanship of this EK1.
Mine is exactly like yours, recess in the pin by the hinge and the
pin end is like a beaver tail. The only difference is mine has a real
pronounced vault to it.
The "930" mark is on the back of the cross under the pin also.
Also love the bluing on the body rather than the regular paint job.
Maker of this cross would also be appreciated.

P.S. Just looked thru my WWI EKs and found another blued version with the
same characteristics but this one has an incused "935" in a square box stamped on the center of the reverse under the pin. Otherwise they are the same except that the "935" does not have the pronounced vault.Last edited by cmagnifico; 03-05-2002, 01:28 AM.
