Ron, the early EK's suffered notoriously from weak cores, and the above cross is a good example of this. Nice cross BTW.

I don't think I have ever seen a second class without a cracked core. They do exist, but I would be worried if it didn't have a crack of some kind. The crude process in their casting makes them unstable over time. Here is the only example I can show you. Others on the forum have these and I believe they are all cracked centers.
