    In the frame

We've all seen and shown cased EK's, but how about some framed ones? To start the ball rolling here's one I got from Chris B. a while back.

Tom, that is a really nice one. I don't have any picture frame types, but I do have a non-case display type that I will post tonight.

Is the frame made of wood or tin? Nice either way, and how about a case that doubles as a frame? I posted it many moons ago, but with the demise of Photopoint the images were lost.

        Hi, Eric,
The frame is wood. The EK itself is on velvet with a heavy watered silk embossed black cardstock backing. Sorry about your case/frame. I think I remember it now that you mention it.
If anyone has the EK on the velvet covered wood block that Detlev sold a while back could they post some scans?

Although this is technically not a frame it does serve the same purpose of displaying the 1914 EK2. The display measure about 3.5 inches x 4.5 inches. It is covered in purple velvet. The silver plate is inscribed "Dinont 15 Aug 1914". Whick would make this an extremely early piece. I do not know the translation of the word "Dinont". I looked it up in my German/English book and there is no reference. I thought maybe it was an officers name but I could not find the name in my 1914 Rankliste. Any help is appreciate. Nice piece, Paul. Dinont is a city in, i believe, northern France. Rick can probably tell you what happened there and when.

Tom, Thanks for the information about Dinont. Also the 1914 EK2 on a wood base is viewable to Ken Greenfield's Der Rittmeister website under the EK section. Be advised that both items are incomplete. They do not have the matching color velvet ring around the base on the glass dome.

                Dinant

                Hello Paul and Tom,

The correct wording is Dinant, a belgium city.

                Best regards,

                Philippe
