A couple of Imperial (mountain troops?) Postcards

Picked up some Imperial, WWI era photo postcards with a lot I purchased a while ago. Just getting to look at them now. Where I’m not a paper/document/photo collector nor an Imperial uniform guy, from a learning perspective, I thought I would ask what might be determined by these photo postcards.

I’m guessing (based on the Edleweis on their caps in some cases) these five images are of some form of mountain troops. Those not wearing an eldeweis none the less are sporting those rather odd shoulder ‘features’ on their tunic similar to something one might see in a classic Buck Rogers film. Where I’m used to shoulder ‘boards’ on German uniforms rather than these things I would guess they signified something. Anyone familiar?

This one appears to be a studio shot. Again, the odd shoulder ‘things’. This guy wearing something akin to a bergmutze so, again, I’m guessing mountain troops.

Any insight that might shared would be appreciated.

            Thanx in advance.

These fellows were probably members of the Wurttemberg Mountain Battalion formed in 1915. This was Rommel's unit in WWI. Very nice set of photos.

That links with the passport & military ID I'm trying to find a new home for. A member related the owner of those was commanded by Rommel. This stuff was all together but I had no idea the postcards were 'connected' with the IDs.

What would indicate Wurttemberg Mountain Battalion?

Uniforms, caps, hiking stick and Edelweiss indicate that they are mountain troops. The Wurttemberg cockades in the first photos zero them in as Wurttembergers.
