    1870 1st Class Weights & Measurements

--OK, I'll have to go up and prepare my own but here's the 1st thread.
    --If possible include:
    1) Obverse and Reverse photos.
    2) Maker
    3) Height and Width
    4) Weight in Grams
--Additional measurements are always helpful (ie: pin length etc.) but again - Height, Width and Weight are the main ones were looking for here. Be back later with mine...

          Well, while I am always....

.... encouraged by the exchange of details and experience here. I advise a touch of caution on this project. There are elements out there that are utilizing this information to perfect their craft of making reproductions.
Of course, I could just be paranoid.... but remember, just because you are paranoid doesn't mean their really not out to get you!

--I kinda wrestled with that factor myself in no small way but I figured that the good outweighed the bad. This whole site can aid the forger as much as it aids the collector, no? It can also aid an author who can publish this stuff without having to do any research at all. Plenty of ways that an unsavory character can use this site. How do we share this info if we are too timid and paranoid to post data.
--PS Rick, I started a thread asking for opinions on this matter entitled "Attention 1870 EK Owners. Database?" could we continue this discussion over there? I'll be happy to shut down if we are all too uncomfortable.

                You're probably right!

Well, unfortunately, you're probably correct... So post away guys with the details and I'll see if we can get Seba to set us an Archive on the details.
Or..... is anyone out there willing to take on a project of preparing a detailed article with sharp photos, maker's marks, details (dimensions & weights) that we can publish to the Collector's website?
PM me if interested and I'll discuss it with Seba.
