How does this one look to you guys? Is it real or fake? And how much would you say its worth?

For me it seems that black one would have been polished and electronically gold plated...at least it would look a like that...

Not sure, but I dont like the gild on surface... All old ones I have seen have been more faded and matt...no so glimmering...

Here's another one for comparison. Note the matte finish, typical of fire gilding.

Thanks guys! I'm staying away from this one

Those real gold ones have a very nice finish... how much did you pay for yours?

Be careful not to create a rule that would lead to the misfortune that the most beautiful golden would badges would not be recognized for what they are. While a good majority of WWI golden wound badges is matt golden, there are shiny golden ones as well.

I own this badge and it doesn´t come from a dealer but from the person who earned it. It is one of the first items I got in my collection and I also have his silver grade badge, which is also shiny silver. Note how shiny golden the finish is on this one. Also note that it is some kind of a luxury version. See that tiny hinge near the catch? This is where an extra latch is attached that you can close (on the pic latch is folded down in the opened postion) to tighten the pin even more to the catch. The badge is magnetic.

                    Cheers, Frank

                      reverse with "safety latch"
