    Oldenburg F-A cross 1st class

just got a oldenburg friedrich-august cross 1st class in the mail today,
    what do you guys think??

    its 45x45mm
    vaulted, blackened iron metal,magnetic,
with brass fittings for the pin and catch.

does this fit any makers? since there is no makers mark.
    thxs joe

Looks good. These are some of the nicest of the states equivalent crosses in thier raw simplicity. A great award. These are never marked as far as I know.

A nice wartime example, probably a variant by Knauer.

Note that there are some (probably 20s/30s) Meybauer marked examples.

What's not to like? Great piece.

To Steve's comment; they do have a raw simplicity about them and a real heft. Hold one of these in your hands and an EK1 by comparison feels light as a feather.

And no, mine doesn't have a maker mark either. I haven't heard of them having maker marks. Meybauer's aside.

hey thanks guys for the good news on a legit medal.
they are very simple medals but they sure are nice to add to a tunic,
and yes weight wise they are more heavy than a simple ic 2nd class or 1st class.

i may have to expand my collection to get more of these now to find a 2nd class..
                    thxs again joe

                      There's also a Godet Berlin variation-with "fangs"
