The shield says that the owner of the rifle (Gew. = Gewehr) ist the military club Klein-Heidorn (1927).
It was fixed on the stock of a rifle to give the name of the owner.
The former village of Klein-Heidorn today has 1300 inhabitants and is part of the town Wunstorf near Hannover.

it's fine to find the roots of some of the items of your collection.
The Krieger-Verein Klein - Heidorn was founded 1895 and I think he ended 1945 as all theses clubs ended after WW2

Gerdan, are you sure about that? As Sergeant 08 pointed out before I'd rather say that used to be on a flag's "stick".

              Hi,

it is a stick (Fahnennagel) for a flagpole.

              The correct "translation" for:

              Gew. v. Krieger-Verein Klein-Heiden 1927

              is:

              Gewidmet vom Krieger-Verein Klein-Heiden 1927

Dedicated by the veterans association Klein-Heiden 1927 (e.g. to another veterans association)

              Regards
              Uwe

I agree with the interpretation as a stick. It looks more realistic.

But I also remember that rifles of clubs sometimes have been marked by such little metal sticks. It could habe been a rifle which was dedicated.
In this case the form of the stick shows that it was more likely fit on a r o u n d stick than on the stock of a rifle.
