This bullion emb. breast star was in a box of German Imperial items approx 2" wide, no marks etc - Any idea what it could be?

Hi Horst,
I've never seen anything like it. It may or may not be German, but I do not tihnk it is German military in any way, shape or form. I'm ignoring the pick, which looks modern and glued on.

Mike, thanks for the responce - I have seen other bullion German Emb. Breast stars from the Imperial time thought maybe this was Hessen as the red and white(Silver) in the star, I agree that the pin was probably added later for whatever reason. It also could possibly be a German Fasching(carnival) item.
