        Daniel,

I can't recall the liturgical significance (my Catholicism has long since disappeared), but it is a common symbol on many old crucifixes. 'Triumph over death', perhaps?

        Regards,

        Ed

Golgotha, the place of the skulls. This is Aramaic for the place where Jesus was crucified. In Latin it is called Calvary.

Thanks guys! I thought this might be some sort of the imperial traditional skull. Thanks for the info, really appreciated!

            Regards,

            Daniel
