Imperial flight badges most likely fakes

Hi All
I am posting these for a friend. He bought them years ago in a large group of bad items so we assume these are bad too. Any and all opinions either good or bad are welcome on these two. I do not collect imperial flight badges and know little about them but these do not look like winners to me.

Pilot badges

Hi, the first badge shown ,Flieger Erinnerungsabzeichen is without doubt a fake /casting. The second shows promise ( abzeichen fur model und motor flieger) 1930's and fairly rare. Ferg1.

Anyone else have any opinions? As you can see on the 2nd one there is ugly solder around where the wings attach to the badge at the back? Any ideas?

I can only agree that the first one is bad.

Well I have seen several period and post war badges with much uglier soldering than that ! Quite often it was a case of not seen so not so much finery. Ferg1.

The first one is a modern copy like Fergus told. The second one a post war civil aviation badge. I fogot the reason for.

Yes, the first one is a crummy cast piece. (I wish spotting all of the fakes were this easy )

The second one is the Deutscher Modell und Segelflugverband. It was a flyer's association badge and it looks good to me. Very nice in fact. The soldering doesn't bother me in the least. It's rare and a "keeper".

Don't even display that other piece in the same riker mount.

BTW: Steve...is your friend looking to sell the badge? If so, I know of someone who is specifically interested in getting a Deutscher Modell und Segelflugverband (no, not me).

If I hook you up...remember me if you have documents to a pilot/observer or a Tsingtau veteran that you want to sell.
