    AWS Pillowback

Here's another cross I have always liked since I first saw it when I started collecting. It's an AWS pillowback. I find it so interesting that this maker used this design on the rear, and no other maker even tried anything close. A unique variant. I have a screwback version, but I had a pinback high on my wishlist to fill in the gap. This one does the trick.

The rear, showing the unique design of the frame and the AWS symbol. These are great aren't they? A classic EK1 for sure.

A bit better shot of the rear, showing the AWS company logo.

Great cross Steve. You've got the screwback, now the pinback. Next
to find is the AWS double screwback.

        Another fine cross

What! There's an AWS double screwback! Can a man get a break? What does that look like? Here is another AWS I have. A screwback with a standard frame.

There is indeed a double screwpost AWS. I have only ever seen one (1)
posted here or at GMIC. The best part about it is I get to look at it
            anytime I want.

Wow, that's a nice one. Seems like most of the AWS examples shown are pillowbacks. Maybe the standard style back is rarer.

No, I'd say that there are more "plain backed" AWS examples out there that collectors realise, they are just not normally marked. This is especially true of the "other" AWS core variant.
