    Godet With Fangs, Finally!

A new one has arrived. Afetr what seemed like an eternity since I picked up a new piece, three nice EK1s showed yesterday. This was one of them, a Godet, with the side hooks or fangs as they are referred to sometimes. This particular cross was recently posted on another forum by another collector, who mentioned it was a duplicate in his collection. Well, here it is now in my collection. I remember when I first saw this type of cross when I started collecting a few years ago, I fell in love with them. I wasn't sure if I would ever have one and do not remember seeing one for sale. They aren't the rarest, but they aren't common, and I would have to say they probably rank up there on most collectors list of favorite Imperial EK1s. This one has nice paint and is in overall good condition. Really happy with this, as a large hole has been filled in my collection.

The rear of my Godet, showing those two side hooks that make this variant so unique. The pin is marked "Godet Berlin". Still don't believe I have one of these now. I need the standard G marked example now.

Beautifull example of a genuine Godet Steve.

      Congratulations... tough to find.

        Nice one Steve

I am sure it's a great feeling to finally find the one that's been
        eludeing you.

Thanks guys. Greg, I wasn't actively pursuing one, but I always wanted one. I knew it would be expensive too. But as a collector friend of mine said when I was contemplating one of those cased Deschler hoard KVK1s sitting in front of me. "The time for tarts is when they're passing" This came from a trusted source too, which is nice when you're spending a lot of money. I blew a wad on the latest pickups, but my collection is boosted big time as a result, and now I will just have to tighten my belt.

So what's next. The flat screen or is there another hole to fill?

Haha! Well winter is coming and I'm in Northern Ontario and I don't have a TV at all, so no hockey or football. Could be tough. It's not a question of another piece or a flatscreen right now. Those 3 new EKs were the flatscreen. As for gaps, it will never truely end. I want to get some of the flat award peices I don't have like G and 800v, an 1870 EK2 is up there, but it would be nice to to get some more tough ones to find, like the slide attachement KMST, a nice Hansen, etc. Just going to need a big lottery win, that's all.

Now you need to get a Godet screwback.
