    A State a Day- Brunswick

Next state up, Brunswick. Let's see what we have from there. I'll let somebody else lead off this time.

Another nice item from Brunswick is their Waterloo medal. Like the Hannoverian Waterloo medals, they are impressed on the rim with the name of the recipient and his unit.

The Order of Henry the Lion has to be one of the most intricate pieces of enamel ever. Thanks for showing.

Medal Bar to a Saxon, but with the Brunswick War Merit Cross, Second Class. Note it is post 1934 but he still wears his Albert Order first, before his EK.

Those Saxon's were a rebellious bunch when it came to mounting awards.

Thank you for the comments and compliments.

Many of the Imperial German states had specific awards for “Arts & Science”. These awards very often had different, even unusual designs which set them apart from the usual round medals and crosses. In his regard, Brunswick certainly followed the trend.

Here is a Brunswick Arts & Science medal, 2nd class, 1st section, as awarded to a woman (on a bow ribbon).

Yes I do. Nice bars Scott. I'm glad to see participation has picked up too. I can't post pics at the moment due to the security settings on the server at my location but I will start bugging the techno geeks tomorrow.

We do not seem to have any minis yet, so I brought this little guy home to have his picture taken.

Incidentally, how the heck did they do these things?
