I won't fall in love with the first and cannot imagine a rank that might have worn such a combination. Better pictures possible? I do not like the bar and assume a modern put-together with altered BMV4X...

Wow, you are always quick to criticize yet you never explain your criticisms.

Can you share your immense knowledge with the rest of us? Is this not a forum for sharing and advancement of the hobbie?????

Please explain the "put together" and "altered MVO4x" comments.

      Thanks.

                  Don, great bar!

Indyarch, is the MVO on your bar hollow? What ranks were those given to, and what ranks was the St. Michael bronze medal given to? Why is the latter mounted on something that looks like OK2 ribbon?

I'm not criticizing your bar. I'm just reading it, and all this one says to me is jibberish. Could you please show better/bigger pictures of the whole bar? I may be wrong, and this would be one of the best bars I'v seen in a while. Thanks.

saschaw, thanks for getting back on this. I don't know how to tell if the MVO is hollow. Any hints?

I will post bigger/closer photos this weekend.

By the way, the St. Michael medal is silver, not bronze. Does this make the two more likely to be awarded to the same rank (MVO3 & St. M silver)?

I never had a hollow one in hands but assume they are much lighter. Silver St. Michael medal (sorry, didn't look close at this) still is a NCO award methinks, while BMV3X would have gone to higher officers, such as Major or Oberstleutnant. Additionally, the ribbons (especially Oldenburg ribbon and SWA, too) have a modern look, but better pictures would be needed for this.

For what it’s worth, the MVO 3rd class with swords cited in Nimmergut’s magnum opus weighs 15.91 gr. It is marked “585 G. H.” on the reverse of the (right?) sword blade.

It is not stated as to whether his cross is hollow or not. Perhaps this information will give you something to go on until the long promised ultimate publication on this order makes it’s appearance.

There are no markings on the swords. Just JL 950 on the reverse angriffe on the MVO. The St. Michael ribbon looks correct to me. Below are close-up photos.
