Improperly marked to deceive. My main concern is what time period is this Rothe if it is a Rothe as I think

Agree with Andreas on the date. The fact that this was marked with a bogus Wagner marking instead of a crown makes it suspect and likely made for the collector market. There are legitimate Rothes and Rothe styles out there but they are quite rare, were likely never issued and were usually found among the Austrian recipients who were mostly royalty. This cross passes the Rothe appearance at all points and while well made and with decent enamel, unless this one is a real bargain, I would pass. SteveLast edited by regular122; 09-05-2008, 10:43 AM.
