Nice real silver Silver Wound Badge 1918

I'm posting this for Hannibal. The obverse looks normal:

but flip it over, and here is the classic "flying badge" style rayback! the pin is marked "silber"--

Note that on the ribbon bar off to the left, the Saxe Ernestine House Order ribbon with silver swords is probably for the Silver Medal, given to enlisted men. It is, using my "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" sorting, an "Ugly" bar--because the 1939 KVK2 civil is behind the Hindenburg Cross with Swords when it should have been in 2nd place! This is a perfectly good Third Reich error or deliberate choice to mount it there--many combat veterans did not value the civil war merit award before their bravery decorations. It is "wrong," but it is Original Wrong.

    Wow!

Only the second silver wound badge I've seen like that. A real "luxury" purchase item for a soldier. Very nice and thanks for the look. I like the bar too!

If m memory serves me (& it sometimes does):-> somebody a while back said that the deep horizontal line across the helmet was characteristic of one of the fakes...also the profile is more that of an M-35 helmet....

            Hi Rick,
Great wound badge. I almost bought one back in 1977 for $40 and let it go. That was an outrageous price back then. I wish I had it now. That is one of the few things I regret not buying.

Frentebro that wound badge is good. It is also a very rare item. Much more rare than a RK or DK.
            Regards,
            Jody

                the best one!

Here's an example that I like very much. It is marked 925 on the pin and is very well made. If anyone's interested I can show other examples of real silver wound badges....
