    A rare one!

Yes, despite repeated, emotional, demeaning speeches by my evil twin, I occasionally have been known to surf a website in search of bargains, just like this one!
Just like the Non-Combattant iron cross, here's a very scarce version of a somewhat common Prussian Award!
The prussian Crown Order, Fourth Class, mit dem Roten Kreuz... nicely paired up with a non-combattant 1870/71 War Medal.

    Reverse, looks like this:

Typical, crudely-sewn, period mounting with no backing material.

Ehh Mike, dont joke, of course You know it!

The so called "Erinnerungsband" (rememberance ribbon) was created to distinguish 1870/71 war aid awards of the crown order 3rd and 4th class and of the General Honor Award. Both could also be awarded with the red cross like above.

Same ribbon was used in WW1 for the war aid cross.

          Best regards

          Daniel

                Believe it or not....

...it came from Manion's. It has been listed in 3 different auctions, started off at $650.00, this past auction it was affered at $300 and I grabbed it at auction close. No bidders. Pays to hang in zinc-heaven sometimes. Frankly, the only reason I didn't buy it when it was $550, was I had so many other irons in the fire... Then they reposted it at $400, then 300... Maybe they were tired of relisting. One of the best buys I have found there. This cross is rarer than hen's teeth and mounted up with the correct/matching 1870/71 KDM and how could I resist?
                Sometimes, you do get lucky!

So this one find alone could justify the membership fees? No?
