    Is this Pilot Badge Original?

Here is a Pilot Badge that I have the opportunity to purchase. I am not a medal collector and want to ask if anyone can help me determine the authenticity of this piece, and whether it would be a good purchase. The asking price is $450. Thank you!

I don't have much hope for this one but let's see what others think.

From what I've seen, I agree with Don. The front isn't the form of the more popular repros floating around, but the 'rayed' back plate is. Also, I believe the current thinking is the crown hallmark wasn't found on period badges. Here's a Juncker pilot badge type that has received a consistant thumbs up from most collectors... http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=Juncker+pilot

Would love to hear Ferg's opinion but I agree with Don totally. On the back, the crown well to me is enough to scare anyone serious away as it is not deep set and contoured to the crown edge. The face details to me seem lacking as well. Steve

An accepted orginal would go for at least twice the asking price of this one. Given the recent turnabout on this style of marking it looks like someone is trying to off load his badges while recouping some of his funds.

Thanks for responding - I will stay away from this one. I really appreciate it.

                              Hi,

This appears to be a Meybauer obverse with a Juncker marked reverse. Obverse detail looks weak and I for one am not a believer in this maker mark - the style of the Juncker mark, the crown and the outlined moon are all problems for me. I actually like the pin to hinge attachment, but without a full reverse image I think there might be something strange about the pin itself. Imo one to avoid.

                              Regards
                              Mike
