I'm not sure but I'd rather think this is a modern fake. Do you remember where it came from?

          Looks somewhat "club"-ish too me...

                Thanks

                Thanks!

I was sure the ribbon was not a 1914, now I guess I'll have to put the whole cross in the "Suspect List" case.

Can anyone help me on the other EK I put up for ID? "EK2 Identification" Thread. Thanks for your time and efforts, I am very weak on Imperials.

It came from Germany. It had an UGLY Spange attached, but I thought that the cross might at least be genuine. It's a three piece.

                    Daniel, Thanks.

Dennis, the problem is this type is not known to be a WWII era replacement. It could be just a strange variation, but as it has never been sold by someone else but a guy who sells many many fakes on eBay.de...

Being three piece construction with an iron core those are in my humble opinion pretty dangerous fakes. If you don't know them, you'll buy it. Here's one more offered, ending tomorrow:

                    http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...MEWA:IT&ih=012

"raritaetensammlerclub", "cetra2003" and "maexle19" seem to be the same person or are "working" close together: modern put together medal bars, faked and altered decorations - I've hardly ever seen an item that seemed tro be 100% genuine, from hundreds sold by now...
