Hamburg Hanseatic Cross made by GODET!

Just got this one from ebay. The first Hanseatic Cross ever with a makers mark from Godet, Berlin I see!!!
Made from silver plated copper and with a ball suspension instead the two rings.

Wow! I have never encountered one like THAT before-- and even mounted in a medal bar that unique ball suspension should be distinctive!

OK, now that you've found the Very First One-- anyone else got one out there?

Yes, I too. Never seen such a cross. I think it is a very rare find and I would love to see more "strange" Hanseaten.

Is there such a thing as a Hamburg cross made after the war?
                Thanks!

Yes, Steinhauer made them in the 30s and after 1957 too.

                    Post War

How can you tell if the cross was produced post WWI? How can you tell if it was produced during WWI?
                    Thanks!

I can tell you for sure that all Lübeck crosses with an eagle with black feet were produced after the war. I don't know if this Hamburger was made after the war or during. Maybe Godet produced some crosses for private purchase or they made it in the 20s or 30s like Steinhauer as replacements for veterans. I've never encountered such a Hamburger. The 1957 made crosses have usually a very shiny finish and a different color of the enamel like this Lübeck cross here:

Note the round ribbon ring instead the flat one used for WWI crosses.

Together with the unusual Bremen cross of the other thread I got a Hamburg cross which seems to be another 1957 made example.

Here is a scan from the 1939 Steinhauer & Luck catalog. I hope this might
                            be of interest.
