    Imperial medal bar

this is in my opinion a strange bar is it not? I find the pin construction very odd. Also the tightness of the ribbons, is that of any concern to anybody?
    Thanks!

Looks OK to me. An EKII and Red Cross III "filled out" with an Honor Legion, Kaiser Manöver, and I can't tell what the last one is. Pre-'34 EM trying to impress. Could you post a better scan of the last one?

      Gerd,

As Tom said this bar looks to have been put together before 1934's regulations, as a typical late 20ies bar, in which period all the Veterans association's medals and commemorative medals were worn to boost the size of the veterans' medal bars. From the pics it is difficult to say if the medals were mounted 70-75 years ago. The combination of the medal looks possible. Furthermore the style of mounting of the medals is quite ok, although it looks almost like "homemade" or not so precisely mounted, like it was put together from a top medals' mounting service (usually medals dealers like Godet etc.).

I hope this helped you a bit more...

      Ciao,

      Claudio

          Rolf,

It's difficult to give a value to this bar because of the unofficial medals which are not listed in catalogues like Nimmergut. However these medals like Kyffhäuserbund medal and such are quite common. I wouldn't spend more than USD 70/80.- / Eur 60/70.- for this bar... although this is my personal opinion. It depends if you were looking for this particular combinations of medals... Btw I think to have seen this medal bar on Ebay... Am I right?

          Ciao,

          Claudio

            Yes Claudio, you are. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=13965

Nice bar but IMO not worth $175 he is asking...

He sells medal bars on a regular basis and most of his stuff is either overpriced or "pushing it", with those opening bids there is no room to get a bargain.
