    Bayr.M.V.Krz 3.Kl ?

    Hello,
I got today a german mother's cross in bronze with case, along with some other items. I realised ofcourse right away that the case doesn't belong to the cross.

Can anyone tell me for what cross the case was?
Does "Bayr..M.V.Krz 3.Kl" stand for "Bayerische Militarisches Verdienst Kreuz 3. Klasse"? Is that something like the ww2 Kriegsverdienst Kreuz 2. Klasse with swords?

How old would the case be?

    Thanks,
    Frank

      Hi Frank,

You're quite right, it's a Jakob Leser case for the Bayerisches Militaer-Verdienst-Kreuz 3. Klasse, probably produced during WW1.

It is for one of these only without the crown.

Is this the case with the hinge or the one where the lid just lifts off? Looks like the lift off type. Either way, these cases are very inexpensive. I actually think they are a bargain as a complete set can be had for well under 100 bucks. Depending on what you paid, I would look to get some money back. A cased mother's cross goes for about $125 or more so you may have got overcharged. I'd keep the case and look for some money back if warranted.

            Hello,
Thanks for the help, I got it for quiet a bargain price with other medals, so I'm still very happy with it.

            Thanks anyway,

            Frank
