    Soldier photo

I always liked this studio photo because this soldier is so fresh and eager and because the date is so early.

Can anyone read the German inscriptioion on the back?

My best guess is, and I'm no expert by far, "Mase Luz, gefallen im 8 Sept 1914" - Mase Luz, killed in action Sept 8, 1914.

Looks like a 16 year old kid. To fresh faced to be KIA.

But still a very nice photo.

His first name is MAX Luz, gefallen den 8. Sept. 1914

Max Luz, KIA 8 Sep 1914, as Greg told us.

Among the known grave sites of WWI in the Volksbund list is only one Musketier Max Luz, but he was KIA 8 May 1915 and his grave is on the Langemark/Belgium cemetery.

He is not the guy on the photo!

Thnaks guys -- interesting. You know his death date would fall right in line with the first Battle of the Marne (6 Sept. - 12 Sept.)
