Dogs of War!

Hello!
I was wondering if anyone on here has photos of dogs, wearing German helmets during WWI (I bet Tony and Kaiser are going to like this one! )
I am also curious, as to if they ever had helmets that were made for them....
Here is a photo of a small helmet, were these the ones used by dogs or were they just miniatures, like the daggers of WWII?

Hi Tyler, I've seen a variety of miniture helmets over the years. Some are "Kinderhelm" or very small sized helmets made for the children of army officers -you sometimes see photos from this period showing very young kids wearing complete replicas of dad's uniform, usually at parades, fetes, etc. I've also seen miniature helmets that are too small to fit anyone but are complete down to the smallest detail. A friend of mine used to have a couple, and he thought they were either a) desk ornaments made for senior or retired officers, or b) used for window displays in military tailor's shops. Either way, they look very nice...In the UK at the moment there's a documentary showing called "WWI in Colour". It's not great -badly colourized footage of WWI- but on the first episode there was film of a marching regiment of Prussian infantry, complete with mascot -a dachshund wearing a miniature pickelhaube! Maybe one of Kaiser's ancestors.. All the best, Paul.
