    Inf Rgt Nr 21 ?

Hi, I just have a question about Inf Rgt 21

In the Ranklist of 1913 its called Inf Rgt Von Borde ?
    (4th Pommerisches) Nr 21

But When I recently bought a regiment
history of Inf Rgt 21 its called Grossherzog Friedrich Franz IV
Von Mecklenburg Schwerin Inf Rgt nr 21 and it is a regiment from Bavaria ?

And the list of officers dont match at all with the ranklists from
1912-1913. Have the regiment changed name between 1913-1914 ? or is it two different Inf Rgts....

Thanks in advance for your help

    Hello,

Bavarian regiments had their own numbering, so there are two (active) Infantry Regiments Nr. 21. If you consider also Reserve, Landwehr etc., I guess there could be as much as 6 to 7 regiments with number 21.

Yes Sir-ee. Two different armies. You have the Prussian: Infanterie-Regiment von Borcke (4. Pommersches) Nr.21 garrisoned in Thorn attached to the XVII Armee Korps, and you have the Bayern: Kgl. Bayer. 21. Infanterie-Regiment Großherzog Friedrich Franz IV. von Mecklenburg-Schwerin Fürth, garrisoned in II. Sulzbach and attached to the III Bayer. Armee Korps . Tony
