Odd Iron Cross 2nd Class "CD800" Brass?

Greetings-
Not that familiar with Imperial medals, but this EK caught my eye. The ring is stamped "CD or CO 800", silver, but do not know the maker. The thing I found odd is where the high points are worn, it looks to be brass underneath. Is this a variation? Did I finally find something good?..

Is it magnetic?
I checked both of my CD 800 crosses and they are both iron cored.

Yes, it is magnetic. So there goes that theory I guess.
I do no collect medals. I will refer to the database.

CD800 has one of the nicer designs and is of good qualitity.
