I got this yesterday and would like to know your opinions and approximate value. Most of what I've seen have been the pin type, whereas this is the medal with ribbon type. The ring is stamped 800 and the iron in the middle is separate and somewhat loose inside. What class is this?

That is a 2d class Iron Cross. They go for $40-60 unless it has a unique maker mark. 800 is the silver content.

Thanks Don! I've looked this over pretty well but can't find a maker's mark anywhere. Is there a particular spot where they were usually marked? Due to the tarnish I could have overlooked it since it's likely very small.
