A nice, worn example marked 938 for silver content. Just a slight bit of enamel damage.

Very nice! Is that Prinz Eitel Friedrich's signature on the document? He was Herrenmeister for a while (in fact I own a postcard of him dressed as Herrenmeister).

Guys, thanks for the replies. I like this litte set but I must state that these are not a true group but individual pieces that I have put together.
Don - From what I have read this is the higher grade of the order. The crown is part of the design and does not denote any special service time like the PLM.
Mike - you are correct with the signature. The document is post WW1. Good eye - I can't make it out!

I was on a train to London last year and I noticed an older lady sitting near me that was wearing a small British St.J pin. I spoke with her and it turned out that not only was she part of the Order but she was the one that mounted the medals in the UK. We had a great chat! You never know when this hobby will take an intersting turn.

As CRBerry pretty well pointed out, we are looking at two different classes here. Dan Doering’s piece is a Kreuz der Ehrenritter (knight of honor) which is distinguished by the black eagles and no crown. Then we have CRBerry’s Kreuz der Rechtstritter (knight by right) which is the next highest degree of the order.

The next highest degree after the Rechtstritter is the Kreuz der Kommandatoren und Ehrenkommandatoren (commander and honor commander) - see below. Above that are a few one of a kind insignia for specific titles.

                            Nice presentations men.

                            Best wishes,
