Cased Saxon St. Heinrich Medal in Silver

    Dear forumites,

I am proud to announce a new arrival in my collection. A near mint cased Saxon St. Heinrich-Orden Medal in Silver with the Stempelschneider F.U.

Jens, could you tell me what kind of metal in your opinion this medal is made of? It looks to me like silver, but I do not find any silver stamps.

Stogie, I noticed that you had one for sale, but I preferred this one because of its "official" red case with double markings.

    Ciao,

    Claudio

    Interesting!

Usually, you see the Scharffenberg labeled cases with a Kunath Ordensbander Lager Label... First time I have seen that label and I have owned about 12 of these at one time or another...

Looks like good silver! All Silver St.Henry Medals with die-maker were made from silver, but the laters ones maybe with less silver content. Very nice!

        Jens,

Thanks for your response. It looks like silver to me and I especially do like the patina... I am really happy to have bought it... My next one is a Golden one... mmmhh... that would be quite difficult do find, especially a nice period piece, since most of these medals could have been easely gilted, without being really original Golden awarded medals. The only way to go is to purchase a real Gold medal... I am daydreaming now!

        Ciao,

        Claudio
