close up of the FR mark. Not very clear but the mark is in fact very clear when looking through the magnifier.

              EK2

I'd like more of this type of fakes (and less of the ones I have picked up from unscrupulous dealers in the past)....I think I'll keep this one after all

Yes, definitely a fake. The Fr stands for Francois. The French have copied the Latvian techniques. Did you get that off of eBay from a guy in DeSoto or Cedar Hill TX?

                  " FR "

As far as maker marks go, is FR any more or less common
                  than anyother mark??

CASED ek2, very nice! So Francois is making these instead of $6 tinnies? Wise indeed! Lot of money to be made in ek2's

Fr is Friedlander. They are not rare, but you don't see too many. Their pieces seem to be of very high quality. I can't seem to find a reference on where they were located.

That seems to be the case with most of the EKII manufacturers, no idea where they all came from.

Friedländer was in Berlin (Hofjuwelier). A very beautiful case!

                            Nice

While the case in not common it is also not uncommon. It is one of the more "mass", for lack of a better word, produced cases and not a custom case by a house jeweler. Nontheless it is a really nice cleane piece.
