      Thanks Tom!

These are some of my beauties that I want to share with you guys. I'm primarily an edged weapons guy but I've been known to dabble in Iron Crosses also. Maybe I can get Tom to post some of them elsewhere. ;>) I really need to up grade my Flintstones computer equiptment for something much newer!

      Anyway enjoy the pics!

      Comments or questions welcome.

      Best regards and good hunting!

Who is the Kaiserpreis made out to? I'm away from home, so won't have ready access to my vast Reference Library for a few more days, but 1902 on is no problemo for career officer research.

          The Kaiserpreis was awarded in 1902 to;

" Dem Major Betz vom 4. Unter Elsassischen Infantrie Regiment No. 143"

The Ewald Cleff Model 1889 is etched with " Wilhelm Felbeck 1914-1915" or the last name may be "Selbeck". I'm not quite sure what the first letter of the last name is.

Please let me know what you can find out for me. I'd appreciate it very much.

Brain, at first glance it looks like a Kürassier Pallasch, but there appears to be more on the top? There was a unique saber carried by Ulanen Regt Nr. 1, which had the basket like a Kürassier Pallasch, but it had an eagle head pommel, similar to the lion head pommel you see on artillery and other cavalry officer swords. Could this be it? I can scan the illustration from Das Deutches Heer for you if you wish, just send me an e-mail, you can also post it here if you want. Tony

Tony just sent this! Thanks Tony. I'm searching other pictures but he has this bad habit of holding the sword by the top and covering it! Would be the Uhlanen.

                    Brian,

I tend to agree with Tony that the sword you posted may be the Uhlan example shown on the left. The dip on the backstrap where the grip rivet goes seems to be present just behind the knuckle bow arms. The top of the pommel is too indistinct to be absolutely sure and the langet is obscured.

In the picture you posted the sword looks to be attached to the left side of a saddle on a charger. If so can you post the whole image?

The original photo I scanned of my grandfather is 7.5 mb. HUGE. But here's a forum sized photo of the whole picture you asked for.

P.S. Tony, I want all of these pickelhauben! Artillery, etc...

Here's the saddle device but with the later boring sword. Bombs got the good one.

You guys are great. I think everyone likes a good mystery. Here's a cut from the highest res of that large photo in best (least compression).

                          Looks fairly distinct.

What? Tiger1 are you saying that you don't have a Ulanen regt 1 saber with a Damascus blade? After seeing those unbelievable swords that started this thread, I sure it is just a matter of time............Tony http://www.kaisersbunker.com

But let me go down to my work shop and see what I can whip up! ;>) ( You have no idea how hard it is to draw all those squiggly lines on the blade. )

                              Stay tuned!
