    War Veteran Associations.

Here is an area often overlooked by collectors, the various veteran's associations and the insignias they wore. Let's see what we can assemble here. First up is a Preussischer Landeskriegerverband (Prussina War Veteran Association) Honor Cross 1st Class.

I look at these as an attempt to cling to the past. Interestingly, their construction bridges the gap between Imperial and TR.

That is a nice looking first class medal. I have the 2nd class version.
This is the one and only medal bar I own.

Bayern had some nice ones too. Hopefully we will see them soon.

Great thread idea Don. And that is a wonderful PLKV pin back badge not often encountered.

Here is a non-combatant 'padded' bar with a rare variety of vets medals I used to own.

L to R = Gemran Honor Legion Medal, The Reichskriegerbund 'Kyffhäuser' Medal, and the very scarce War Honor Cross w/o swords from the Ehrenbund Deutscher Weltkriegsteilnehmer (best medal on the bar), a 9 year Prussian service medal and the Hungarian non-combatant campaign medal.

The Hungarian non-combat medal was also scarce, but someone had lifted it off the bar, hence the combatant filler on it. Still, an unusual bar with so many pre-34 vets organizations--except the Hungarian medal. Just shows you what the vets put together without regard to 1934 laws. Wish I had kept this bar but it became something of much greater value. Steve

Actually Steve I think it is a great pre-34 bar. After 1934 your man had nothing bu a Hindy and LS medal.

I'm not sure if this is a Vet related medal or not. I can't find much about it. I did a search on the forum and every reference to "Stiftung" was in German.
So here it is. If it's not Vet related, I apologize. Ammersee
