    Unusual 1914 EK2 marking....

...anybody want to hazard a guess from these "composite" scans as to what this marking might be? The mark was rotated and scanned 4 separate times, as I know scanner lighting can sometimes play tricks on details.

Depending upon how I look at it, I can see an anchor, a person walking, an animal walking or some sort of monogram (with ?crown above and "circle" below)

Same pic, but reduced in size to reduce the fuzziness.

It is the mark of Zorro!

Sorry about that. My going to the SOS goofyness is coming thru.

It looks like a capital "F" with a crown above it. Friedrich? What is it stamped on? Ammersee

Here is the best view (IMO). I might be wrong but I think it should go this way up looking at the furl at the top in this view.
Now I can see a tall ship, a bishops mitre, a plant in a pot.....

Hmmm....seems I'm going to have to start thinking of this a "the clown" marking

Here's another pic - a bit clearer with a digicam.

Starting to look like a jester riding an anchor???

Same pic, but rotated 90 deg. This orientation, and the one above, would imo be the two possibly correct orientations.

                  Regards
                  Mike

PS: It was purchased as a "lion" marking.

I went through my partial list of German silver hallmarks and could
                    not match it.
