    red eagle order

    Hello.

First of all, congratulation for this forum, I am fron Spain, and I have this question.

I am going to buy a red eagle order 4º class with out swords. Which is made of porcelain. (The center with the emblem that is often enamel)

In addition It is marked with the ´´W ``( I think that it is of Wagner)but I am not sure.

I would like known if it is of Wagner, and what period it is.

And. Why is made with porcelain and not of enamel?

    Many thanks.

Your Red Eagle is a Wagner, probably dating to about 1900-1910, as it has pebbled arms. As far as I know, the centre disc is made of enamel, hand-painted.

        Hello Hohenzollern,

Welcome to the forum. From what I can tell from your picture, what you have is a very fine example of a fourth type Prussian Order of the Red Eagle fourth class.

As pointed out by VtwinVince, the clue is in the pebbled arms. Shown below are a first type (Left), which was awarded from 1830 t0 1846 and a third type (right) which was awarded from 1854 to 1879. So your fourth type could fall anywhere between 1879 and 1918. Some of the experts could probably narrow this down for you - I, not being one of the experts, am inclined to agree with VtwinVince, 1900-1910 sounds about right.

I hope that this information is helpful and, again, welcome,

...watch the estand, and watch out for ebay. Red Eagle Orders have been brilliantly faked with decals. Look perfect in a photo, but...

ok Brian S, thanks for your information.

I know that in ebay there are many fakes. It is a danger.

The medal of the photo, is from a private collector from germany.

but it is original 100% true?

                  Many thanks.
