Thanks for that interesting observation, is there a reason they wouldn't have stamped 'ED' on the ribbon ring? Was it normal for makers to not have a makers mark on their awards, and if so, why would that be please? Thanks!

Quite a few of the EK2's I've looked at have a mark on the ring. There are just as many that don't have any mark. I don't know why they didn't mark all of them, but they didn't. If you have an unmarked cross, you can still get a good idea who made it by comparing it to the ones in the database. Ammersee

Here is my ED and the mark is a little different than George's, in that the "D" is completely formed. Originally bought as a marked "03" but on looking it is an ED. This also came in a case that is stamped on the back but cannot make out the name although I think it is the distributor. Jim
