ID and value needed concerning this medal

Hello to all

I 'm not sure if this is the correct section to post following medal. I would like to know what this medal is exactly. It would be nice if someone could determinate the value of it. I think it's a sort of 'erinnerungskreuz' of the Great War? On one side is says : 'wir leben von der freude '. Please see pictures below.

I would leap to Saxony, because of the ribbon colors, but beyond that I'm not sure... Some type of religious or fraternal badge?

The ribbon reminds me of the student ribbons. I have a number of them and I think it could be a medal from school in Germany. The ribbon would be the schools colors and ribbon. Just a guess by the look the them. Mike

The DGFW on the reverse could be Deutsche Gesellschaft für Wundheilung und Wundbehandlung, a medical society. Could also be a Masonic jewel.

Jan, it sure looks like it was worn around the neck. Is there anything or writing on the back of the medal. If it is a school award, maybe from somewhere in Saxony-hence the colors. I don't think it is Military related. Mike

Tom, that sounds logical, although I haven't got a clue what you're talking about. Could you give some detailed information concerning this society?

Mike, the only thing that is that is written is following : ' wir leben von der freude' = 'we live from peace' (?) as you can see in the first picture.

It's an association of wound care professionals created in 1994. Oops, back to the drawing board

Freude is "joy" or "pleasure," depending on the context.

I'd say this is a Karneval (German Mardi Gras) association badge, since what I'd get from the motto works out in English to about "We live for pleasure."

You're correct, Ricky...it is not 'Friede' but ' Freude' ....will pas the information to the ' happy' owner
