"S-W" stands for the Hofgoldschmiede (court goldsmiths) Sy & Wagner, from Berlin.

There are some lists around that interpret the marks, but much of it is just guessed, some even definitely wrong. I'm not sure if anyone put a "clean" list together... the new Wernitz book does contain many of the "safe" names, however.

Is this an S-W?

I just purchased this cross. Magnetic core, very old original ribbon that is very fragile, it is definitely multi piece construction.
Can someone look at this and tell me if this is an "S-W" and anything else about it?
