            Joe,

            These last photos are from one of several Garde infantry regiments that wore this "old Prussian" style collar and cuff Litzen. I'm a bit surprised that in so many photos there is no indication of the specific unit.

              hey chip,
              i broke down and carefully pulled out one of the postcards that was used, and this is the unit stamp that popped up.
              S.B. 10/ F.B 5. G.R.z.F

              so it is a garde unit, and thxs for the clarification on the uniforms thought it was some odd looking insignia on them for this time of the war.

                  new batch of photos

                  got a new batch of photos from one man on the eastern front late 1915-16, could be a doctor in a horse unit of somekind. not to sure but he shows up in alot of the photos.
                  most all have writting and dates on back. there are a 125 in the set i got, all are on the thin paper that curls up on the ends, typical ww1 photo paer, but still some nice pics alot of the people in the russian or other eastern lands,
                  will post the best here with the backs that can use some translations if possiable, thxs guys
