A question for Werner about Ruess??...

... This is my latest arrival, a nice 3 place Medal Bar for a brave NCO from the Principality of Ruess. My question is, I have seen the "Silberne Verdienstmedaille mit Schwertern" mounted both ways round, i.e with the "Crown and intertwined H.R to the front, or the "Oakleaves and Fur Verdienst" to the front. Which is correct

I believe this view is correct, or is it up to the individual bar owner which way he has it mounted.

    View of obverse.

And am I right in thinking that the "Front Fighters Cross" is a Godet made piece??

The medal is mounted reversed. The "Für Verdienst" is the back. Your Hindenburg Cross is marked "GD" for Gustav Danner, Mühlhausen. I hope this helps

Thanks for the answer Jens. The reason that I asked it was, that in both Nimmerguts OEK and Von Hessenthals books they show the "Verdienst" side as the front.
I took the "GD" on the reverse of the Hindenburg Cross to mean Godet, the same as was mentioned in your list of EK makers. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
So does this mean that the maker of the bar has got it wrong, or has Nimmerguts and Co

AAHHHRG! STOP!!! It is right, the "Für Verdienst" is the front. I mixed it up with Waldeck; there you have the "Für Verdienst" on back. Sorry!

That's OK Jens, thanks, I'm pleased that has cleared up that question. Now is the "Gustav Danner" Hindenburg Cross an easy one to come by or are they on the rearer side, just that I've not seen this one before.

There again this could be down to my inexperience yet again

Hm. Lets say, they are scarce. I have only one of them myself. It is difficult to say this about Hindenburg Crosses. I can tell you more rare makers of the EKII 1914
