      Well, according to a on-line German-English dictionary I found, Musterung can be either a mustering (annual call-up of troops) or a military medical examination. Either way, it's a "memento of my military mustering"

      Instead of a specific unit listed it just says Ersatz.

        Musterung = conscription (also the mentioned medical exam. but conscription makes more sense here)

        "Memento for my conscripiton"

        Ersatz = reserve

        Possibly the maker of this brossure made similar ones and that black plate contained the actual unit someone was recruited to. The owner of this was a reserve troop thus.

          Pin

          IMO This is a souviner pin for the annual reserve training, this predates or dates to WWI.

              I have an old early 20th century German-English dictionary, it lists this as "registration for the draft". I think it is refering to the whole process of enlisting and being classified etc.
