Saxon LGR 100 OFFICER'S M1910 Tunic

This belonged to St Henry Order Knight, Hauptmann dR aD Arno Fiedler, and is in a New England collection.

Like Charles's M1910 Unteroffizier's tunic shown on the other thread to this same elite Saxon Guards regiment, this tunic was pre-war, and has a wartime dressing pouch added inside. (The St Henry ribbon is new and only for display.)

Note that although the tunic was pre-war, the shoulder straps were altered to M1915 regulations with white piping.

Fiedler had actually served during most of the war in another regiment, but as a pre-war reserve officer was demobilized to "wear the uniform of" his "permanent" unit.

Here is a closeup of the uniquely Saxon cuff, piped all the way around, including the BOTTOM edge!

Note that officer's collar and cuff tabs are woven flat silver wire, not "bullion" embroidery.

Thank you Rick. These picture plus the earlier one sare just wonderful to view. Amazing that some uniform components survived all these years in such excellent condition.

Saxon Leib tunics

I too am amazed. Many great tunics and complete uniforms have come up for sell over the last few years due to a couple of long time collectors selling out.

I have several tunics to share but am unable to post here. Rick was kind enough to post my tunic to show.

I must say that visor caps from the small state are the hardest of all to get. The trouble with Imperial Field Gray is the making a display is often impossible because the difficulty in finding a tunic and cap that belong together. Infantry is the easiest. That is if they are Prussian.

Brought back up as part of our Saxon Grenadier Rgt 100 Fest started by Philippe's spike helmet.

Makes you wonder if the guys who wore these (this tunic, Charles's tunic and spike, Philippe's spike) might have known each other by sight in say 1915....
