Flandernkreuz - Flanders Cross Qualification Info. needed

Can anyone tell me if an individual who served with the below unit was entitled to the Flanders Cross?

He served in:

II. Westf. Husaren-Regm.Nr.11. - 3. Eskadron which later (I believe) became the "Freikorps Garde-Kavallerie-Schutzen-Division"

Chuck, as I understand it (and someone will correct me f I am wrong) the Flandernkreuz is a private post war commemorative piece for Marinekorps units that fought on land in the Flanders area.

Yes, this is what I understood as well, but I have read now on a couple of websites that it was also authorized for other troops who fought there as well. I have also read, and it may have been on the WAF, that the medal could also be privately purchased by personel who did not actually fight there but simply gave a donation to the organization that produced and distributed the cross during the Weimar period.

I need to try and find out if the above Husar unit fought there in 1918 as I am researching the medals and awards of a Freikorps man as I hope to determine whether he was actually entitled to the medal, having seen action there, or if he simply made a donation and added it to his growing array of Freikorps awards.
