    1914 Iron Cross - Plate

I purchased this several years ago from Detlev Niemann. I just could not pass it up. It is a decorative plate with the 1914 Iron Cross and oak leaves, all in a bright blue. The plate is made by Meissen, which I believe is a city near Berlin. They were the Kaiser Porcellian Manufacture. From the markings on the back the plate dates from 1910-1930. It is a great display item with my EK collection.

Great plate, Paul, but I think you'll have trouble finding the rest of the service

      Hi Paul,

      nice plate!

BTW Meissen is close to Dresden and is the old Royal SAXON manufacture. PRUSSIA had the KPM in Berlin.

May You please post a reverse pic?

      Best regards

      Daniel

            maker mark plate

I found this plate for sale and it shows all the KPM marks and dates. I can't see a difference between the 1815-1924 mark and the 1934 mark.

                  EK plate

                  Hello,

first of all, I have to say that this plate is from Meissen and not from KPM. The plate you show with the marks is completely for Meissen marks. In the early times, Meissen also used the shortcode K.P.M. (means "Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur") and is related to August, King of Saxonia.

The plate with the EK is a single patriotic plate from the first WW and was never part of a complete service. There are also some other types of porcelain from Meissen with the EK like cup's, moccacup's, vases etc. All of them are "stand alone" items.

                  Kind regards

                  Walter

The plate you have showing the maker marks is only a small representation of all their marks. Over their over 200 years they have had several variations.

                    Here's my favorite Meissen piece.
