enamel quality?
Would striations across the black enamel on the Ek of a spange be positive or negative regarding authenticity? Ie, it looks like the enamel was polished/ground flush with the other metal to achieve smooth transitions.
This is not mine, but one that a seller near me was moving on ebay ages ago. He was a thrift shop hunter, and knew nothing of badges. But with his find were 2 real gold Baden red cross medals, and a few other authentic rare Imperial pieces. I ended up with a couple of the cheapies but was too timid to compete for the spange. I only remember it being disappointingly tiny, crisply detailed with nice patina- but with those striations.
